How to download Twitter (X) videos

- Paste it here. Tap Paste in the box above.
- Save the video. Tap Download, then Save to phone. Choose a quality if several are offered.
Download GIFs from X
X stores GIFs as short silent videos, so they save as MP4 files. They loop in Photos and in most chat apps. If you need a real .gif file, any free GIF converter can turn the MP4 into one in seconds.
Save X videos on iPhone, Android and PC
iPhone: in Safari, tap Save to phone and choose Save Video. Android: the MP4 goes to Gallery and Downloads. PC or Mac: open the post on x.com, copy the address, paste it here and click Download.
Twitter video quality
| Option | What it is |
|---|---|
| Highest quality | The best version X stores, often 720p or 1080p |
| Smaller sizes | Lower resolutions that use less storage |
| MP3 audio | The sound only, for clips, podcasts and talks |
Posts with several videos, and threads
If a post has more than one video, each appears as its own card. For a thread, paste the link of the exact post that contains the video you want.
X video downloader: same tool, new name
Twitter is now called X, but the links and videos work the same. Whether you search for a Twitter video downloader or an X video downloader, TapDL accepts both x.com and twitter.com links and saves the video as MP4.
Twitter to MP4
Videos on X play in your browser as streams, which you can’t save directly. TapDL finds the highest-quality version of the stream and gives you a single MP4 file with sound that plays offline and imports into any editor.
Why people save videos from X
- Keeping breaking-news clips and speeches for reference.
- Saving sports highlights and funny clips to share in group chats.
- Backing up your own posted videos.
- Using a GIF reaction in other apps.
Is it legal to download Twitter videos?
Saving public videos for personal use is generally fine in many places. Reposting someone else’s video without permission can break copyright and X’s rules, so ask first and credit the original account.
Tips for the best quality from X
X keeps several versions of every video. TapDL lists them from highest to lowest, so the first option is the sharpest. If a video looks blurry, the creator probably uploaded it in low resolution, and no downloader can add detail that isn’t there. For long videos on a slow connection, choose a smaller size: it saves faster and still looks good on a phone.
Twitter video not downloading?
- The account is protected (private).
- The post is marked sensitive and needs a login to view.
- The video is a live broadcast that is still running.
